Building from source
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”macOS 27 on Apple Silicon, Xcode 27.
open blu.xcodeproj # first time: ⌘B → "Trust & Enable" for the package macrosxcodebuild build -scheme blu -destination 'platform=macOS' # Debug = "blu dev"scripts/install.sh # Release "blu" into /ApplicationsThe package macros (StructuredQueries, Perception, Dependencies) need a one-time approval in Xcode; after that
xcodebuild works without extra flags.
Two apps, separate data
Section titled “Two apps, separate data”| Build | App | Bundle id | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Debug | blu dev | org.deffun.blu.dev | Application Support/blu.dev |
| Release | blu | org.deffun.blu | Application Support/blu |
Each has its own Keychain items, defaults and log subsystem, so you can develop next to your everyday app without
touching its data. scripts/install.sh refuses to replace the release app while it has running tasks.
Project format
Section titled “Project format”The project uses Xcode’s JSON format (blu.xcodeproj/project.xcproj). blu/ and bluTests/ are synchronized
folders: a new file joins its target without editing the project. Schemes and test plans stay classic files.
Language
Section titled “Language”English is the source language of the code, docs, prompts and UI. UI strings live in the String Catalog
blu/Localizable.xcstrings; Russian is the first localization. Write new UI text in English and add its
translation to the catalog.
